While eating in a restaurant the diamond in a women’s engagement ring at a table next to yours catches your eye. You think to yourself that it must be at least 2.5 or 3 carats. Now imagine if she was wearing a 118 carat oval white diamond!
Sotheby’s in Manhattan, New York will be auctioning off a 118 carat diamond on October 7, 2013 in Hong Kong for an estimated $28 to $35 million. It is the size of a small egg and is being hailed as “the greatest white diamond” Sotheby’s has ever sold in regards to its size, color, quality, and polish. The oval diamond was cut from a 299 carat rough diamond mined from a southern African country.
